More economically-priced products from Nestle soon
SHAH ALAM: Nestle (M) Bhd will introduce more economically-priced products to sustain demand in what it sees as a tough year ahead, says executive director Dr Magdi Batato.
“We are optimistic (about getting) through the tough challenges next year with our good roadmap and perform results in line within our expectations,” he told reporters at the launch of a new plant in the company’s Shah Alam complex on Monday.
Last year, Nestle Malaysia launched some economically-priced products, such as Milo wafers and Nestum Sarapan Berkhasiat, for the lower-income group.
Nestle (M) Bhd executive director, production Dr Magdi Batato (left) and Nestle Products Sdn Bhd business executive manager, milks business unit Rashid Qureshi at a press conference during the launch of Nestle's non-diary creamer plant yesterday in Shah Alam - Starpic by Art Chen Rashid Qureshi, a manager at subsidiary Nestle Products Sdn Bhd, said a softening in demand could be seen for Nestle Malaysia’s products like Milo, Nescafe, Maggi as well as some milk products, due to the slowing economy.
“Hopefully, we continue to bring efficiency to our value chain where we can cut production cost and hope to keep promoting our strong brands like Milo, Maggi and Nescafe,” he added.
Batato said Nestle Malaysia’s newly launched RM75mil non-dairy creamer plant would have an annual production capacity of 40,000 tonnes.
The plant would produce Coffee-Mate creamer as well as non-dairy creamer for other Nestle products, and would start production next month, he said.
On the expansion of the company’s coffee plant, Batato said RM110mil had been earmarked for the project.
The extended coffee plant, now under construction, was expected to start operations by the fourth quarter of next year, Batato said.
