Maybe.. ::)

I do agree Julez, this is not a recession yet. This is just a huge profit taking which always happens at least once a year.. The last one was in May 2006.. Currently it fall a lot because of the short selling and increased volatility since past few weeks..

This is a major correction for world market.  In fact, Shanghai bourse that lost almost 9% yesterday and sparked the panic selling recovered by having +4% by it's closing today.  Around Asia, all bourses registered negative for their main index except for China and Taiwan today.

Well, major correction is good for BUYER.  However, lots of speculators who manipulated the Contra suffer badly although some investors actually came in for good deal.  These speculators are mainly retail investors.  Right now, it's opportunities due to considerably low price on the 2nd liner.  Some blue chips also came down to affordable range.

Cautioned: Time is good for investing but risky for trading.

Because of today's major correction, some people actually gained a lot, especially those who did short selling in the stock market and futures market.

You are right.  Short selling could also have hasten the downfall momentum but I got no idea of futures.  Btw, how does it work?

"US recession possible but not probable this year" by Alan Greenspan - biz.thestar.com.my
But read further...
"By the end of the year, there is the possibility, but not the probability of the US moving into recession, Greenspan said, according to Keys notes. " -biz.thestar.com.my

An interesting article by Booffett says that the worst is yet to come (http://booffett.~.com/2007/03/worst-is-yet-to-come-as-of-today-7.html).

I agree that the newspapers like to paint an extra-bright picture of the future of our stock market and economic conditions, but it seems to have worked.

The bulls and the bears seem to be working overtime at each other right at this moment  :D so the next move should be a big one, either direction.  Yes, earwax, I think Boofett is right.  I vote for Bear.  The US housing problem could bring down the cards and nowadays with internet technology and cable tv, it could be quite infectious.

Let's get ready the cash for the crash.  ;D ;D

The problem with cut loss is, easy to say hard to do; the problem with let the profit run is, most often, the profit only run 100m, not the 400m as you expected.

Bull means market going up, bear means going down.
I think why the guailoh chose these 2 animals is because they don't have the other 12 animals of the Chinese Horrorscope...?

My personal opinion on the yin yang concept would regard bull as more masculine or 'yang' then BEAR which is more 'yin'.  Just my humble opinion but the use of this stock jargon had saved most of us from explaining long windedly on the current trend. ;D
