Good pt on forex ... anyone knows if Scomi has not managed this forex risk?
I'll be surprised with risk management principles such a big hype post Enron, Scomi (and led by Shah Hakim, an ex EY) or any companies with high USD exposure did not manage this risk?
This is like having airline companies go bust because oil blew past USD100/barrel. This did not happen because bizs are more well prepared, well run.
It's not something that can be managed. It's a guaranteed-lost in Forex. |

My friend working in a accounting firm that handling the audit for scomi. Scomi pays them 4mil per year. Scomi balance sheet is very messy, it took them 5 months to finish the auditing. Partly because Scomi has 59 subsidiaries la. Normally, if sufficient info given by the company, they only need 1 week for this kind of straight forward case.
No news regarding the project. I didn't own share of Scomi but interested. Now I have to think again. The rest I didn't ask her. Hope to share some info to forumer who are interested in this counter.
She added, good company with systematic account normally announce their quarter result earlier because the audit process is straight forward.
