Ok, since no one start yet, let me kick the ball first.
Name's Max and has been trading in Msian market, mainly FKLI.
Reason simply because able to long and short hence got chance to make from both bulls and bears.

Interested in eminis - US Futures - on ES, YM, NQ and ER2
Currently in process of testing to create a system that can work on ES.
ES is S&P500 futures.
Progress so far, traded one full day on paper account - 15 trades - 13 wins, 2 losses. Gained more than USD1,000 per lot.

Plan is to continue to trade and ensure that system has statiscally better than 50% accuracy and has risk reward ratio of 1.5:1 minimum to 10:1. Currently, system seemed to be on track. Need to increase sample size. If everything goes well, should start trading somewhere in July/August 2007.

13 winning trades out of 15 makes my mouth water  8) 8)

I am Andrew.  My track record with Bursa for the past 2 years based on 100% FA is 30% pa.

Started trading NYSE options since mid-2006, winning trades < 60%, so since stopped.  Going to the mountain now to spend one year read all the books downloaded from somebody's blog  :P to improve my chekai TA skills.  Unlike Boofett I'm very slow reader  :( :(

Actually, the 13 out of 15 winning trades with positive risk reward is theoritically impossible.
I, myself, is in disbelieve. Hence need to increase sample size to ensure it is not due to randomness :P

So Andrew, who do you trade with for Options? Does Options move as fast as the ES? Were you daytrading or were you position trading?

You mean which broker i use?  OptionsXpress.  I learned from Foong Mun Keong.  He's quite a good teacher but student lousy.  I'm grounded now, back to paper trading.  FMK teaches position trading, spend 20 mins each night, fine tune stop loss then go to sleep.  What is ES?  Options always seems to move too fast for me  >:( >:(

ES is S&P Futures. The movement is quite fast. Later I post a sample day chart. You ll see the swing is perfect opportunity for scalping.
One tick = 0.25 pts = USD12.50

The movement in ES if not mistaken is second to ER2. YM and NQ is slower.

How is OptionXpress? Comm rate? Account opening need how much? CHarting included? How much swing per day?

You wouldn't want to touch OX; it's the most expensive.  Recommended by FMK during his class because very user-friendly but he subsequently recommended IB, Interactive Brokers and TradeStation.  A lot of people think the best and cheapest now is TradeStation, with beautiful charts but I haven't tried.  I normally use low tech charts, BigCharts.com, my coursemates use StockCharts.  Because I still can't tell the difference even if you showed me the chart upside down  :( :(

BTW i just finished Trading For A Living, haha....................

Great. I intend to use IB as well with Ensign as charting (using IB feed) because IB charts seemed to be lacking.
Trading for a living is the base :)
Next come many more books. Kekekeke. Should you feel you need some specific book, PM me :)

Btw, mind posting a sample of Option chart in a day, let see how volatile it is and if it is possible to scalp :)

At one time FMK organised a regular weekly session for all the guys interested to do scalping.  Some were very excited because they made quite a bit, in a very short time, plus getting the adrenalin rush.  Soon the enthusiasm fizzled out... anyone's guess?  >:D >:D  For one thing you need $5,000 to open account for scalping compared to only $3,000 for trading options only.

There shouldnt be an adrenalin rush. Thats where the problem is.
Yeah, USD5,000 to open account but I thought it was okay. Anyway, since I wanted to go for the eminis, its definitely USD5,000
So anything interesting that FMK shared in the class? What sort of system does he recommend?

Hi Maxforce,

Where can you trade e-minis? Any recommended webistes on them? I have been trying find some good information on them, but failed to find the right one. Do you where I can check their daily price?

Btw, currently I'm trading FKLI for the past 1 years. Also looking into diversifying on local stock market once the big crash happens.  :P Planning to trade FOREX in the future. Still in learning process.

Uvirra,
Same thinking here.
Suggest Interactive Brokers.
Their Tradestation will have the prices and simple chart.

You can also trade forex with them, if you choose to.

Attached the volatility of ES from after market to start market to end market.
One point = 4 ticks = USD50.00

Its an honor to meet with you, sir :)
I can't seemed to find the words to express my excitement to find another "kou sau" in trading. I am but a newbie compared to your vast experience in trading. I hope to learn from you to advance another level in trading.
A month or so ago, a friend of mine showed me the ER2 playback realtime speed and it has never been the same to me. It ignited a certain passion in me that I have not felt for a long time. However, he did suggest that since I have no experience whatsoever in US Futures, I should either start with the ES or the YM.
I have since opened an account with IB and signed up for Ensign (using IB feed with ESignal as backup provided free) and Bracket Trader to facilitate quick clicking but have yet to trade live. My simulation has been doing well with the main strategy - using Stage Analysis on a Volume Chart in ES and seemed to work pretty well for scalping/daytrading purposes. Target is one point minimum and no maximum set though I do manually intervene when it look like it enter into a distribution phase (Stage 3). Also, I move my stops frequently upwards as a trailing stop. Stop losses are not moved downwards. No positions are to be held overnight.

In your vast experience, does this method work - meaning more than 50% accuracy with a large data sample? Especially if used in the YM since it has more similarities with ES?

Also, I have heard that every serious trader trades with Tradestation but the feed somehow seemed to be lagging by a few seconds, is this true?

And, what sort of strategy are you employing in the YM and ER2? Is it more of position trading that could last a few days or weeks or do you focus mainly in daytrading/scalping as well? Are those methods include the swing trading with pivot points as mentioned in your blog? What sort of timeframe or chart settings do you use?

;D ;D ;D Sorry, lots of questions in my mind, but not much where I could turn to. Really excited when I saw your post :)

For everyone's benefit the terms/abbreviations mentioned are explained below:
ES - S&P Futures
YM - Dow Jones Futures
NQ - Nasdaq Futures
ER2 - Russell 2000 Futures
IB - Interactive Brokers - brokerage house
Ensign - Charting service
Bracket trader - a software linked to IB to execute orders by clicking instead of typing the order
Stage Analysis - A method devised by Stan Weinstein
Volume Chart - Chart whereby a candle/bar is made up of volume instead of time. Eg. Instead of a 1. 5 or 15 minute chart, we set a certain volume so that each candle represents a certain number of volume.

ES - S&P Futures
YM - Dow Jones Futures
NQ - Nasdaq Futures
ER2 - Russell 2000 Futures
IB - Interactive Brokers - brokerage house

In options we like to trade the following, usually using credit spreads (of course a lot of people like it and at the same time a lot don't; everyone has got his own favourite strategy)...
SPX and SPY = S&P (SPX is more expensive, SPY is cheaper)
NASDAQ or QQQ = Nasdaq
IWM = Russell 2000
 :)

Er, I stand corrected. I was referring to their eminis  :P
So you do spreads in Options?
Is there direct spread to be done in IB?

Yes, spreads highly recommended by my teacher. But when I do still don't make money sad to say. Gotta improve TA skills first i guess...

I think IB is same as OX, definitely they allow you to do spreads.  But of course when at the point when you sign up you must say you're a very high level trader otherwise they won't let you do a lot of things like selling naked...  :D :D

Mr Boon,
I had another playback run of ER2 again just now.
I have a question. How did you manage to watch the 5 time frames at the same time and yet also watch the YM? The movement seemed so fast that even one time frame at only ER2 seemed to be a giant task. Do you adopt a large (>1 pt) stop for ER2? Or do you only trade when the volatility is lesser?

No special charts for spreads - you use the same charts for calls and puts, identify back the support and resistance like normal....

Meaning say I decide to do a bear spread, long near mth, short far mth, I would have to refer to two charts? One the near mth and another the far mth?
Dont have just a Spread Candle Chart available?

Not heard of spread candle charts...  ;D ;D
Normally charts are historical up to latest day, if want to do like calendar spreads need to do own projections.

Teacher advise to do "credit spreads" like bull put spread or bear call spreads because when you buy these spreads they credit your account straightaway, then when your prediction comes true and the spreads expire "out-of-the-money" you don't need to do anything.

I may be wrong but I think the calendar spreads and "diagonal" spreads are less popular.

Anyway, I'm thinking of following you do futures because Alexander Elder also stopped doing options and stick to futures........

Thanks for the explanation.
Reason why I asked is because I believe in charting solely in what we re trading.
So if say we re trading spreads, then best to base on the particular spread chart.
Then candlestick, indicators, patterns can be used to determine entry and exit.
But that is my opinion only.

Relating to futures, it would be most interesting and once mastered, it can be a source of income irregardless of market condition - it doesnt matter if it is bull or bear nor rangebound. And as we re trading with leverage, the profitability percentage is respectable.
Though the difficulty is very high, a system must definitely be in place and emotional control and discipline must be very high to react to the opportunities and threats offered by the market.

Good luck my friend :)
