GOAL
Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Barcelona (San Jose, 13)

That is sensational. Mikel San Jose, take a bow. Barca keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen strides the edge of his area to head the ball clear, San Jose chests it down in the centre circle and unleashes an unstoppable dipping volley that soars over he head of the stranded German keeper and drops into the net. He could not have struck that any sweeter. What a start for the underdogs.

HALF-TIME
Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Barcelona

And that's the break. Athletic Bilbao lead the Treble winners, and they're good value for it too.

GOAL
Athletic Bilbao 2-0 Barcelona (Aduriz)

What a crucial sixty seconds in this tie! Barely a minute after Iraizoz denied Messi with that superb save, Athletic go straight up the other end and score. It's great work by Sabin down the left, he leaves the defence trailing, stands up a superb cross and Artiz Aduriz absolutely monsters Javier Mascherano in the air and plants a superb header into the net. This may be a two-legger, but we very much have an upset on our hands.

What a night in Bilbao! Barcelona aren't just on the ropes, they're on the canvas! Barcelona fail to deal with a cross into the box, the ball drops to Aritz Aduriz, and the striker swivels and dispatches a superb strike into the corner of the net. Dare I say it, but tie over?

Last time Barcelona lost by four goals? April 2013, in the Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich. That one felt pretty shocking, but surely this is an even bigger surprise?

Mikel San Jose, who started this madness, goes into the book. And that's it! Barcelona have been humiliated! What an extraordinary performance from Athletic Bilbao.

Barcelona have leaked eight goals in their opening two official games of the season and will need a drastic improvement in defence if they are to have any chance of denying Athletic Bilbao the Spanish Super Cup.

After edging Sevilla 5-4 to win the European Super Cup last Tuesday, Barca suffered a 4-0 drubbing at Bilbao in Friday's first leg and host the Basque side for the return on Monday.

The defeat for the Spanish and European champions at the San Mames, when coach Luis Enrique fielded a weakened side, means their hopes of matching 2009's feat of winning all six competitions they contested are hanging by a thread.

Luis Enrique has refused to throw in the towel and told a news conference on Sunday he and the players are "utterly convinced" they can turn the tie around.

If they manage it, they will prevent Bilbao lifting their first silverware since they won the Spanish Super Cup in 1984-85.

"It's a challenge that a team of this quality is capable of meeting," Luis Enrique told reporters.

"If we do things well we will have a chance," said the former Barca and Spain midfielder, noting that his side regularly put four goals or more past opponents.

"We will be fresher than in the first leg and when Barca is playing anything can happen."

Barca's versatile Argentina international Javier Mascherano, who normally plays in central defence but was deployed in midfield for the first leg, said the team had not deserved to lose by such a wide margin.

"In these two key games our opponents have been very effective," he told an earlier news conference.

"We have to improve and minimise the errors but we are not going to go crazy.

"Tomorrow it is vital that they don't score. You are always learning in football and the match the other day gave us a lot to think about for the future."

Barca have little time to set things right before they begin their quest for a sixth La Liga title in eight years at Bilbao on Sunday.

Luis Enrique will have only two of his formidable attacking trio available for Monday's game at the Nou Camp as Neymar has contracted mumps and will again be unable to join Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez up front.

Athletic Bilbao claimed their first silverware in more than three decades when they wrapped up a 5-1 aggregate win over 10-man Barcelona to win the Spanish Super Cup on Monday and unleash ecstatic celebrations in the Basque city.

Bilbao, who only field players of Basque origin, last secured a major trophy when they won Spain's traditional season opener in 1984 and Friday's 4-0 drubbing of the Spanish and European champions in the first leg at the San Mames left Barca with too much to do at the Nou Camp.

After waves of sustained pressure, Lionel Messi gave the home side a 1-0 second-leg lead shortly before halftime when he chested down a clever Luis Suarez layoff and clipped a close-range volley into the net.

Barca's hopes suffered a blow 10 minutes into the second half when centre back Gerard Pique was shown a straight red card after he strode angrily over to the side of the pitch and shouted in the referee's assistant's face to protest a decision.

The incident seemed to give Barca renewed energy and Pedro and Ivan Rakitic immediately had chances to make it 2-0 before Suarez fired wildly over when through on the left.

However, the home defence left a gaping hole at the back 16 minutes from time and Aritz Aduriz, who netted a hat-trick in the first leg, was able to score at the second attempt past Claudio Bravo sending the travelling fans inside the giant arena into raptures.

Not even a late red card for substitute * Sola could tarnish Bilbao's joy as they ended Barca's hopes of repeating their 2009 feat when they won all six competitions they contested: the Champions League, La Liga, the King's Cup, the European Super Cup, the Spanish Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

"If you wrote the script it's impossible it would turn out like this," an emotional Aduriz said in an interview with Spanish television.

"For us, for what it means to win a title for Bilbao, it's the greatest thing that could happen and against Barca as well," he added.

"We have to compete against the rest of the world and it's an incredible thing."

Barca need to recover quickly for Sunday's trip to face Bilbao again in their opening La Liga match of the campaign, when they begin their bid for a sixth title in eight years.
