TNB: Unplug all unused electrical appliances
PETALING JAYA: Before joining the balik kampung rush, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has some vital advice for Malaysians.
“Unplug all unused electrical appliances from power outlets, use a timer to turn on lights at night and test the residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) before leaving your home,” said TNB senior general manager (corporate affairs and communications) Datuk Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Amin.
He said electrical appliances which were not in use should be switched off and unplugged to prevent a continuous flow of electricity.
“Ensure all power sockets are in good condition and don’t overload them with too many electrical items,’’ he said in a statement.
Extension wires should be fully extended if in use to prevent overheating, he added.
Mohd Aminuddin said the RCCB should be checked at least once a month, adding that customers could refer to TNB’s website at www.tnb.com.my or TNB Careline’s Facebook page for guidelines.
“Hopefully, these safety tips can help everyone enjoy a worry-free Hari Raya Aidilfitri with friends and family,” he said.
Customers who wish to report a power outage or need help can contact TNB’s Customer Care helpline at 15454.
