Title: Bad news... stock spamming works
Post by: Calvin Wong on August 25, 2006, 04:26:56 PM
I'm not sure if you guys are seeing spam mails in your inboxes promoting certain stocks lately but I sure am getting plenty of those.

And as I was beginning to believe spam could not get any more annoying, spammers have moved from selling ****** and fake rolex watches... to touting stocks! And what's worse, according to this article their tactic seems to be working.

They target penny stocks and dump them once it goes up about 5%. So unless something drastic is done about this I expect to see even more spam in my inbox and soon even on forums like this. :(

Note: Don't try this at home. It's highly illegal.[/color]

Max, I could forward some to you but I don't want my ISP to catch me for spamming... :)

Usually a stock spam email will show the stock name, some analysis and maybe the stock chart as well. It looks like a professional report and usually quite long but of course it leans heavily to a buy recommendation. The analysis I think is not too bad (I don't know, I never read them).

It shouldn't be too hard to catch stock spammers especially if the goreng penny stocks.
