Prices of vegetable oils including palm oil are set to rise by $50-$100 per tonne by June, according to a forecast by industry analyst James Fry.

"Prices of crude palm oil and other oils depend on the outlook for palm stocks. Stocks will fall till mid-year, which will lift the crude palm oil premium over Brent, especially if Indonesia maintains its heightened pace of biodiesel use," according to Fry's presentation for an industry conference in Karachi that was viewed by Reuters.

\"If this occurs, there is an upside of $50-$100 for oils by June,\" said Fry, chairman of commodities consultancy LMC International. Crude oil benchmarks set the floor for vegetable oil prices, Fry said.

Benchmark palm oil prices dropped to three-year lows in November and December amid high inventories and weak demand. Palm was last up 1.1 percent at 2,223 ringgit ($540.88) a tonne on Friday evening.

Southeast Asian palm oil stocks reached record highs last year amid weak demand, but are expected to ease in the coming months in line with seasonal production trends.

Palm oil stocks in Indonesia, the world's top producer, were at 3.9 million tonnes in November, having peaked at close to 5 million tonnes in July. Second-largest producer Malaysia saw inventories climb to a record high of 3.2 million tonnes in December. <MYPOMS-TPO>

In an effort to boost palm oil consumption, Indonesia raised its biodiesel mandate last year to require all diesel fuel used in the nation to contain biodiesel starting from the beginning of September.

Indonesia's mandate requires a 20 percent bio-content in biodiesel, but prior to September that was mandatory only for subsidized diesel users.

At an industry conference in Malaysia on Thursday, LMC International's head of Southeast Asia, Julian McGill, said crude palm oil prices are expected to rise to between 2,200 and 2,300 ringgit per tonne by June on a seasonal decline in stocks.

From wood manufacturer to IT provider - Aturmaju Resources Bhd (7181)

Original Post: https://www.investingnote.com/posts/1220863

My analysis on Aturmaju Resources Bhd
From wood manufacturer to IT provider - Aturmaju Resources Bhd (7181)

Aturmaju Resources Bhd’s (ARB) has recently made a strategic move that can potentially be a game changer for the group. ARB is an integrated wood manufacturer that provides sawn timber and veneer.

Over the years, the Aturmaju has faced some challenges in stabilizing the revenue stream due to instability in the supply chain. In 2017, revenue fell 67% to RM11.4 million and in 2014 the same thing happened, which combined with a rising cost of raw materials led to a 53% dip in sales.

With that in mind, the company decided to diversify its business in order to better navigate the timber industry’s hurdles. In mid-2018, the wood products manufacturer started its IT business with an RM20 million project to design, develop, install and support ERP solutions. By fall, the group had secured another three ERP projects, worth a combined RM5.6 million. A couple of days ago the company entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yes’s Comm. Enterprise Sdn Bhd (YESS).

The purpose of the deal is to optimize the retailer’s supply chain using ARB’s Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) System Integrated Solutions (“SIS”)to track sales and inventory in real time, enhance inventory management, assortment selection & forecast, and optimize logistics. In a month, the companies should sign a definitive agreement adding over RM20 million in revenues.

After a weak 1Q18,the group reported strong growth in 2Q and 3Q of 2018. Revenues in the last two quarters combined(RM8.3 million) were more than twice the revenue in the same period in 2017. Profitability also improved and earnings per share were positive (RM0.28) in 3Q for the first time in over a year.

Aturmaju Resources is now focusing its resources in the IT sector and judging by the initial momentum, it’s definitely for the best. The stock price jumped on the MOU announcement but there’s still huge potential to this strategic shift.

Next week, my grandmother has appointment with eye specialist. Coincidentally, I was not available on that date for accompany her. I'm worried if she goes alone because her eyes would become blur sight after treatment. Now I'm looking for people who can I hire to accompany my grandmother to the hospital. Anyone free here?

same problem with my mom... eye appointments will make her sight blurry. Us, siblings would usually accompany her but then again we are very fortunate to be living close by to one another.

Year end finished in positive territory. Obviously the sell off on equities market had big influence on gold price increase and reversal of down trend. Certainly $1400 is next long term resistance level, but unsure if it will be reached during 2019
